Capturing the desired expression in a natural way is what sends the message. Online, in a two dimensional platform your eyes and mouth are key to reaching your audience. In corporate photography, avoiding the “deer in the headlights look” is paramount!

First you start by choosing a photographer you can build a positive rapport with. Being relaxed and natural in front of the camera is not easy for the typical person (we aren’t actors and don’t have an “on switch”. Many people lose sleep over coming to their first professional headshot session and it can be quite intimidating! A good connection is the first step to feeling comfortable with your Woodland Hills photographer.

Our posing blog goes into detail. Well I like to make people feel comfortable from the start by getting to know them and chatting about topics they care about, i.e. family, children, pets, their job etc… rapport with your headshot photographer is key! Once I snap a few photos I take the iPad that I am shooting directly into and I turn it around so they can see how terrific they look! I usually get “ooooo, ahhhh, or “wow!” and from that point on, they relax and we have a great time posing. I periodically show them their image to change up the hair, or background color and their confidence builds!

Well I try to reassure my clients when they arrive by showing them some samples of how I will make them look after professionally retouching their corporate portrait. They realize life’s imperfections can be eliminated with a talented retouch artist!

I photograph about 30-75 photos in a corporate headshot session depending on the amount of wardrobe changes and background color changes. Sometimes I do a studio and outdoor professional photography shoot during in Woodland Hills, California during the same session.scription

Directly after we take the photos we will sit down and 2, mirror image monitors located a covid safe 9 feet apart to view the headshots. I will show them to you and compare them side by side to narrow down and select the best ones. My clients really value this service which takes about 30 minutes. They appreciate my professional photographer opinion and guidance and I point out issues they may not have noticed. I can also guide them about how my retouching can fix flaws, like wrinkles in clothing or their tie hanging down too low.

My regular corporate headshot session takes about 30-miniutes and the image selection about 30 minutes. Add in clothing changes and it could take 1 hour to 1.5 hours.
